SHPE Delivers Serious Fun with Zombie-Dodging Solar-Powered Cars

Feb. 26, 2015
SHPE helps Arizona high school students build solar cars to survive apocalyptic zombie toy soldiers on the University of Arizona campus.

High school students from across the state built solar cars to survive apocalyptic zombie toy soldiers, as part of an engineering outreach program on the UA campus in February.

The 150 teens attending Advancement of Latinos in Engineering/Young Latina Forum Day on February 12, 2015, all took different approaches to creating vehicles to withstand apocalyptic events but got the same message from mentors throughout the day: Stay in school and consider careers in the STEM -- science, technology, engineering and math -- fields.

The annual event is organized by the University of Arizona student chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
