Engineering, Music Student Gains New Lease on Life

Chemical engineering and piano performance senior lives each day to the fullest after "miraculous" recovery from bike crash.
Gabriel Schirn is a multitalented UA senior who is double majoring in chemical engineering and piano performance. Not only that, but he is also knits, volunteers, bikes, swims, and enjoys poetry and other activities. After a major biking accident that sent him to the hospital for nearly two weeks, he believes in making the most of each day.
"I believe that the most important thing is the present," he said. "I've learned that every moment is an opportunity to live life, to really feel what it is to be a human."
