UA mining engineering students competed in an annual rock-drilling competition.
On Friday, April 21, UA mining engineering students competed in an annual rock-drilling competition. In the competition, mining engineering students had two minutes on a compressed-air powered jackleg drill to bore as deep as possible into a 20-ton rock. The winner has traditionally been tossed into the fountain outside Old Main. Atlas Copco donated the air compressor for use at the competition.
