Some 200 Phoenix-area high school students, parents and guardians enthusiastically met UA College of Engineering students in Phoenix to hear about the best that UA Engineering has to offer.

UA Engineering Ambassadors present at this year's Roadshow

UA Engineering students representing 15 student clubs made the annual trek north early Saturday morning, February 12, for the chance to speak directly with high school students interesting in attending college at the University of Arizona. This road trip by UA Engineering students has been happening for over 10 years, and has been made consecutively for the last five years, said Susie Bowers, Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator for the UA College of Engineering.

This year's event was hosted by Camelback High School and featured breakout sessions covering the assorted disciplines offered by UA College of Engineering, as well as an impressive showcase of engineering projects, national engineering clubs, and performance cars from the infamous UA Baja Racing and Arizona Formula SAE projects. UA students also spoke about what prospective engineering students need to be doing right now academically to effectively prepare for engineering studies and research at the university level.

"The UA Engineering Ambassadors and their fellow club members had the opportunity to do what they do best -- talk about who they are, what they love, and why they chose to study engineering at a top research university," said Rebecca Myren, Recruiting, Retention and Women's Programs Coordinator. "Their preparedness, poise and enthusiasm demonstrated the true leadership qualities of a UA Engineer."

Myren said this enthusiasm was recognized by students and parents alikeā€¦ results the coordinators feel will lead to high attendance at the next UA Phoenix Roadshow in October.
