Engineering Management Student Helps Team Take UA Deloitte Title

"One of the main lessons I took away from this competition was how to see the bigger picture and weave together all the project aspects,” said Torres. “I used almost everything I have learned in my coursework. And I worked with some very intelligent undergraduate and graduate business and MIS students from whom I learned a great deal.”

The UA Deloitte Case Competition challenged undergraduate and graduate students to find the best IT mobile application solutions for a mock pet supply company.

Teams had a week to research and develop solutions to a real-world problem, with the winner presenting the most comprehensive solution to a panel of Deloitte company consultants. In this case, eight UA teams were tasked with finding information technology solutions for a problematic mobile application at a mock specialty pet supply company.

As the winning team, Torres and his teammates received a cash prize of $1,250 and had opportunities to interview with Deloitte Consulting. Teammates were business administration graduate student Harshini Yedida, management information graduate students Harish Eshwar and Vaibhav Goel, and MIS and marketing undergraduate Benjamin Malisewski.

The Deloitte competitions are held throughout the year at select universities.
