Yuma TV station features UA Engineering seniors who have designed and built a drone to evaluate soil salinity and plant temperatures.

The KYMA Yuma video features a College of Engineering senior design team working on a device that integrates a thermal imaging camera with an unmanned aircraft system.

The project objective is to capture thermal data and evaluate soil salinity and plant temperatures. The team tested the drone-based camera in an experimental agricultural field where farmers will use the system to help determine proper irrigation schedules and efficiency.

The team members are all systems engineering majors who will display their project at Engineering Design Day on April 29, 2019.
